Phase 0: Laying the Foundation with Our Founding Company, justInCase SASTI (Small-Amount Short-Term Insurance) (2016–2018)
Our establishment is inextricably linked to our founding company, justInCase, Inc. (renamed Sony Small-Amount Short-Term Insurance Co., Ltd. on October 1, 2025; hereinafter "justInCase"). Before founding the company, Kazy, the Company’s CEO, who worked as an actuary on product development at a reinsurance company, faced two major industry challenges: " Financial Services Agency approvals" and the "legacy IT systems of the insurance industry." Noticing the concurrent acceleration of IT advancements like cloud computing, Kazy questioned: "Could these issues be resolved through the application of emerging technology?"
This spark led to the founding of justInCase in 2016 with two partners. They believed that streamlining product development through technology to swiftly launch timely and innovative insurance products would be highly valuable in a Japanese society where the sustainability of the social security system is foreseen to face challenges due to a shrinking population, thus helping to expand self-help and mutual support. Consequently, justInCase was established first to develop products, and two years later, justInCaseTechnologies was founded to focus on system development.

Phase 1: The Start of Our Challenge and the Rollout of "joinsure" (2018–2022)
In the first few years after our establishment, we focused on developing our core products to realize our vision, "The Joy of Helping and Being Helped, Shared by All." As a result, our SaaS-based insurance system, "joinsure," began to be adopted by a number of clients, primarily electric power companies and card companies.

Phase 2: "joinsure" Developed as a Core System for Insurers(2022–2025)
The adoption of "joinsure" as the core system by Tokio Marine X Small-Amount Short-Term Insurance Co., Ltd. was a major turning point. During this time, we also accelerated collaborations with a wide range of partners, including major solution providers, spanning diverse sectors outside of Finance.
Furthermore, we leveraged our expertise in the small-amount, short-term insurance business to launch a new service, "SASTI Establishment Navi (少短設立Navi)," expanding our scope to assist the formation of the business in addition to providing the system.

Phase 3: Exploring the Possibilities of the Insurance Business More Broadly and Deeply (2025–Present)
Following its adoption as a core system by insurers and business co-creation with platformers, "joinsure" is now powering DX initiatives at corporate agencies. Furthermore, our sales support services have driven a dramatic increase in policy conversion rates by leveraging Generative AI. The number of end-users reaching over 1 million through "joinsure" is expected in fiscal year 2025. Our business domain, centered on "joinsure," is continuously expanding. Moving forward, with "joinsure" at the core of our mission, we will continue to drive the evolution of the insurance industry, ensuring that essential insurance coverage is delivered to all who need it.
